Interesting Scorecards

In this post I am planning to collect all interesting scorecards I have come across.

Women's international T20s

By allowing international T20 status to all T20 games, ICC has made international scorecards very interesting. Many of these contests are very much unbalanced and lead to bizarre scorecards and records which one could only dream

Without further adieu

Mali Saga[ Kwibuka Women's Twenty20 Tournament 2019]

At the time of writing this post, Mali had 3 entries in the top 4 biggest losses in terms of runs.

Rwanda Vs Mali ( Rwanda won by 10 wickets)- 18 Jun 2019

This was the first women's T20 match for Mali and this scorecard is full of interesting features. Mali scored just 6 runs batting for 9 overs, out of which 5 runs were extras. Leaving Mariam Samake who scored 1 run as the top scorer. At 83% Mr Extras overtake Charles Bannerman's famous first test match contribution. Rwanda chased the target just in 4 balls.

Tanzania Vs Mali ( Tanzania won by 10 wickets)- 19 Jun 2019

Mali's batting was slightly better,  scoring 11 in 15.4 overs, Mr Extras still top scoring at 5 runs. Unfortunately the bowling department was still stuck at 4 balls.

Uganda Vs Mali ( Uganda won by 304 runs)- 20 Jun 2019

Uganda scored 314/2 in 20 overs. This in itself is fantastic, but on closer look, the strike rates of the Ugandan batswoman are not extraordinary for such a score. None of the batswomen had strike rate more than 190 and both the century makers had strike rate less than 170. On closer look you can see that this score is boosted heavily by the 61 extras conceded by Mali . One bowler conceded 82 runs in 3 overs ( economy of 27.33 ).

After such a bowling performance, one would think that the worst is over. But Mali batting also had a tough time scoring just 10 runs in 11.1 overs with 3 runs in extras ( Highest individual score being 4 )

A very bizarre performance by Mali. Possibly the only area where they beat Uganda is in the percentage of extras. Uganda's total had around 20% in extras while, Mali's is 30%. A small positive to take :)

Rwanda Vs Mali ( Rwanda won by 216 runs) - 21 Jun 2019

After the debacle against Uganda on 20th June, the next day Mali had to regroup to avoid another big failure. In a way they did that , and even though the loss was by 216 runs, the achieved one significant thing - Their team didn't get all out , even though the ended up scoring just 30-9 chasing chasing 247

With lot more T20 national women teams, such occurrences of chases with very small second innings scores have become increasingly common. For example, this chase by Germany Vs Ireland

Tanzania Vs Mali ( Tanzania won by 268 runs) - 22 Jun 2019

Mali un-did their improvement 21st June by conceding 65 extras and also getting all-out for just 17.

Perice Mamunya had bowling analysis 4-4-0-0 for Tanzania. A dream spell for any bowler. At least would not expect it to be improved in the same match, Until Nasra Saidi came to bowl and ended up with 2.5-2-0-5. Possibly confused by so many bowling performances, the officials gave man of the match to the Tanzania batsman who scored a century.

Maldives Saga [ Is this something to do with name? Mali-Dives]

6 all out in 12 overs chasing 256 in this match Vs Bangladesh
16 all out in 10 overs and then losing in an over Vs Nepal in this match. Anjali Chand had a great time picking 6-0 in 2.1 overs for Nepal

Analysis of 7-3 in an international match? I doubt Frederique Overdijk would have dreamed of doing it in this match

Men's International T20s

Belgium converted 14/8 to 146/8 to win this match against Austria. Amazing innings by Saber Zakhil to pip 5-5 by Aqib Iqbal

You some times unexpectedly see your old retired heroes ( rather their name sakes)  :) Aravinda De Silva played a blinder for Bulgaria Vs Serbia in the match

Turkey could score just 21 chasing 279 Vs  Czech republic in this match

Turkey at it again in this match

Myanmar 9-8 in this match

Men's Domestic T20s

Andre Russel hit a century from 5-41 to chase 225 in this match

Leo Carter smashed Anton Devcich for  6 sixes in an over in this match

Hazratullah Zazai did the same in the match

Men's other T20s

Ultimate T20 all round performance by Krishnappa Gautam in this match . He scored 134(56 balls - 13 sixes) out of the team score 204 and then took 8-15 in 4 overs.

4 Balls 92 runs protest in Bangladesh

Wriddhiman Saha made an amazing century in 20 balls in this match

Women's other T20s

Ultimate one-woman show by Shania-Lee Swart in this match. She scored 160 out a team total of 169, with extras contributing to the remaining 9.

Men's First Class

Innings and 851 runs loss by Dera Ismail Khan Vs Pakistan railways in this match

Vijay Hazare's 309 out of 387 in this  match

Hampshire won the match after following on from 15 all out to score 521 and win this match

Winning match without losing any wickets :

  1. Lancashire won against Leicestershire
  2. Railways won against J&K
  3. Karnataka won against Kerala
Number 11 top scoring in a match. Peter Smith top scored with 163 in this match

Karnataka batsmen had a rollercoaster in this match. Three of them scored exactly 100, while 5 scored 0 and.. They still won against UP

Leewards declared at 24-7 against Windwards to force and win.... and unfortunately didn't succeed in this match
77-6 to 675-9 declared and ending up winning by 403 runs.. Rajshahi did this unthinkable Vs Chittagong in this match

Men's List A

If you are chasing 78 in 40 overs and your team has Viv Richards and Greg Chappell, you wouldn't bet your team getting all-out for 62, which is what happened in this match. Thinking now, probably Lille would have bet.

Glen Turner was a lone hand  (understatement) in this match

One man show by Clive Rice in this match

Men's Tests

Declared on 32-7 and won! . England did this unthinkable against Australia 1950's Ashes.
